Mrs. Elizabeth Irene Plotts, age 86, formerly of Dushore, Pa. passed away on Sunday morning, July 19, 2009 at the Manatawny Manor in Pottstown, Pa.

Irene was born June 15, 1923 in Dushore, Pa., daughter of the late Frank Cleveland and Mary Elizabeth (Mamie) Graifley Mosier. She graduated from the Cherry Township High School, a member of the class of 1940. She attended the Goodwin Business School in Williamsport and the Lowell Business School in Binghamton, N.Y. During WWII Irene worked for the Office of Price Administration, War Price and Rationing Board at Dushore from 1942 until the office closed in 1945. After the war, she worked for a short time at Gillette's Drug Store in Towanda and then at the Ansco Division of General Aniline and Film Corp in Binghamton, N.Y.

Returning to Dushore, Irene married Glenn L. Plotts of Forksville, Pa. on Oct. 9, 1948. She was the secretary to the Sullivan County Superintendent of Schools for four years until she and Glenn purchased the former Dushore Motors and Equipment Co. and operated their business as Plotts Garage until their retirement in 1981. Glenn predeceased her on June 27, 2007 after fifty-eight years of marriage.

Irene was a member of the Redeemer United Church of Christ, Dushore, Pa., and was a member of the former Wyalusing Valley Chapter No. 523 Order of the Eastern Star for 24 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty L. Winco, Warwick, Pa., and Mary K. Lohman, Phoenixville, Pa.; a granddaughter, Amanda Egan, Jeffersonville, Pa.; two brothers-in-law: Sidney B. (Phyllis) Plotts, Gunnison, Colo. and Richard N. (Jean Anne) Plotts, Woolrich, Pa.; and two nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, July 21, at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, Pa., with Pastor Darcy Miller, officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
