During the early morning hours of Monday, June 23, 2014, Floyd Colin Jennelle of Canton passed away quietly at Dar Way Elder Care in Estella with his beloved family at his side. He was 76 years of age.
The Guest Book is expired.
Born in Konnarock, Va. on Dec. 5, 1938, he was the son of Michael and Myrtle (Childers) Jennelle. For many years he hauled logs from Virginia to the lumber mills of Sullivan County. He liked the area well enough that he began making hunting trips, eventually resulting in his moving here in 1971. Floyd was employed for many years as a die setter with the former Canton Manufacturing Company. While dining one evening at a local restaurant he met Audrey Leonard, and the two were eventually married at the Grover Church of Christ by Pastor Fred Bryan, and shared nearly 40 years together.
Floyd was mechanically inclined and had a knack for tinkering with machines. He enjoyed keeping busy. He also enjoyed hunting, camping and playing cards and horseshoes. He was known for his good sense of humor and for being a good cook. Most of all, Floyd was a devoted family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey, at home; sisters, Chris Cullop of Meadowview, Va. and Lil (and Art) Unruh of Elverson, Pa.; sons, Clarence and Floyd Jr. (and Louise) Jennelle of Elverson, Pa.; daughter, Carol (and Robert) Gomez of Jackson, N.C.; step-children, Gary Barnes, Anna Watkins, Robin (and Jeff) Campbell, Elwin Jr. (and Tami) Barnes, Linda Perry, all of Canton; and adopted daughter, Jennifer (and Raymond) Cole of Ralston; a very special grandson, Tommy Aurandt of Canton; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Myrtle Jennelle; brothers, James, Woody and David Jennelle; sisters, Marie, Ginnie, Regina and Ruby Pearl; and a daughter, Sandy Jennelle.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 27, at the Church of Christ (Disciples) of Canton. A celebration of Floyd's life will be held at 1 p.m. Professional services have been entrusted to Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, Canton.
