Fred C. Mount of Monroeton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.

Born April 19, 1934 in Towanda, he was the son of the late Frederick Mount and Margaret Cranmer Mount.

Fred was a graduate of Towanda High School and later served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He rode the train daily from Barclay Mountain to work at the Ingersoll-Rand in Athens for many years. Fred retired from the Ingersoll-Rand in 1996 following 45 years of service.

Fred was a life member of Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 and Beirne-Webster VFW Post No. 1568, Towanda. He enjoyed hunting, salmon fishing in New York State, bowling, golf and raising beagles.

Surviving are his children, L.L. "Bud" Smiley and his wife Patricia of Wysox, R. James Smiley and his wife Sara of Towanda, Nellie Smiley Irvine and her husband Stephen of Towanda, Vickie A. Mount Turner and her husband Roger of Towanda, Linda Mount Bouse and her husband David of Monroeton and Florida and Charles Mount and his wife Stacy of Towanda; grandchildren Randy Smiley, Resi Smiley Trivett, Rick Smiley, Tonya Smiley Hubbell, Michelle Smiley Mann, Beth Smiley Maloney, Shawn Woodard, Brian Irvine, Wendy Irvine Bellows, Amy Irvine, Bradley Turner, Russell Turner, Kelsey Turner, Mindy Day Johnson, Adam McClintic, Robert McClintic III., Amie McClintic, Ashley Mount and Clayton Mount; and 26 great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Alberta Arnold Mount on Oct. 2, 2005.

A memorial luncheon for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at Towanda American Legion Post No. 42.

Interment will be private in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, at a later date.

The family suggests that contributions be directed to Towanda American Legion Post No. 42, 912 Main St. Towanda, PA 18848 in Fred C. Mount's memory.

The Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home of Towanda is assisting Fred's family with arrangements.
