On the evening of Thursday, June 19, 2014, George Kinne of Towanda passed away quietly at his residence with his family at his side. He was 78 years of age.

Born in Tunkhannock, Pa., on May 9, 1936, he was the son of Johnny and Anna (Salsman) Kinne. George served with the U.S. Army during the Cold War, attaining the rank of sergeant. In civilian life he worked as a railroad track inspector. In his free time George enjoyed shopping and dining out. He was always on the lookout for new and interesting restaurants to try. He was a man with decidedly strong opinions about nearly every subject, and always called things as he saw them. He was also known for his great sense of humor and enjoyed indulging in good-natured ribbing.
George is survived by his son, George Kinne of Towanda; daughters, Debra Spencer of Towanda, Laurie (and Dan) Ohmstead of Wyalusing and Penny Golden of Towanda; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and step-grandsons, Christopher Crawford and family and Charles Carmilla and family. He was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Rusty Crawford and sister-in-law, Shirley Crawford.
Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to noon, Monday, June 23, at Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, 94 N. Center St., Canton. The funeral service will be at noon. Interment will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luther's Mills.
