Gladys Buck Groover, 80, of Mercur Hill Road, Wysox, Pa., passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa. Gladys was born in Wysox on April 9, 1933, a daughter of Henry and Gustava Buck. She was employed by the Bradford County Manor in West Burlington Township, Pa., for 25 years until her retirement. Gladys possessed great love for her family and home. She enjoyed camping, fishing, working crossword puzzles and caring for her cats and dogs.

Surviving are her children Bernard Groover Jr. of Wysox, William Groover of Wysox, Dennis Groover of Rome, Joanne Westbrook of Wysox, Virginia Walker and husband Otto of Rome, Julia Ellis and husband Joseph of Rome, Vickie Hartford and husband Randy of Ulster; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters Lillian Shay of Athens, Charlotte Vincent of Columbia Cross Roads, Blanche Whitbeck of Athens, Hazel Buck of Waverly as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Bernard J. Groover Sr. on Feb. 4, 1996; sons Calvin G. Groover on Dec. 14, 1989, Gary Lee Groover on Oct. 1, 1990, Phillip R. Groover on April 15, 2001 and son-in-law Thomas L. Westbrook Sr. on June 16, 2013.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa., with Rev. Robert Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Wysox Cemetery, Wysox, Pa. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday afternoon at the funeral home.
