Harry Owen Fassett Sr., 79, of Wysox, Pa., passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013, at his home following declining health. Harry was born in Overton, Pa. on May 20, 1933, the son of Ernest Fassett and Pearl McCarty Fassett. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and following completion of his military service was employed as a truck driver for Lehman Chemical Truck Lines of Tonawanda, N.Y. Harry was later employed by Masonite Corporation in Wysox for over 30 years until his retirement.

He was a life member of Dushore American Legion Post No. 996 and was a member of VFW Post No. 384, New Albany, Towanda Gun Club and Towanda Elks Lodge No. 2191. Harry loved animals and enjoyed the outdoors and caring for his home and lawn.

Surviving are his wife, Janice M. Lee Fassett; children, Carrie Moore and husband Steve of Towanda, Harry Owen Fassett Jr. and wife Mary Jane of Towanda, Shelly Spencer and husband Scott of West Monroe, N.Y.; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Norma Beeman of Dushore and Betty Bardee of Middletown, Pa.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Rood and Marjorie Bahr and a brother, Ernest Fassett Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home 217 York Ave. Towanda, Pa., with Rev. Robert Martin officiating. Dushore American Legion Post No. 996 will accord military honors at the funeral home. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Memorial Hospital Hospice, 91 Hospital Drive, Towanda, PA 18848, or to the Bradford County Humane Society, PO Box 179, Ulster, PA 18850, in Harry Owen Fassett Sr.'s memory.
