Jesse Moore, 76, of Troy, Pa., formerly of Canton, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 10, 2013, at the Troy Community Hospital following a brief illness.

Jesse Howard was born on April 3, 1937, in Windfall, a son of the late Simmons and Beatrice (Bennett) Moore. As a young man, Jesse grew up on the family's farm in Windfall and attended school in Windfall and Troy.

He was later employed by Canton's Bellows Valvair for many years before opening Moore's Chevron Station on Main Street in Canton. Jesse loved to tinker and was a talented mechanic. In 1987 he established Moore's Automotive on South Avenue in Canton. At Moore's Automotive, known to many as "Jesse's," he continued to serve Canton and surrounding communities for several years until retiring in 1999.

On July 24, 1971, he married the former Lois Green in East Troy, Pa. Jesse and Lois shared 39 years of loving marriage before her passing on April 24, 2011.

Jesse enjoyed hunting, John "The Duke" Wayne movies and restoring and pulling John Deere Tractors. He also loved to take bus trips with Lois. Jesse will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his children, Donna Moore (Paul) Peters of Gillett, Sherrall Peters of Elmira, N.Y., Sue (Bill) Stone of Lakeland, Fla., Eugene Moore of Laceyville, Annette Moore of Florida and Trina (Mike) Crawford of Southport, N.C.; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a sister, Betty Ayres of Granville; special friends, Janice Rickard, James and Shirley Brenchley, all of Canton.

Besides his wife Lois, Jesse is predeceased by a sister, Nellie Holley and an infant brother, Donald.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2013, at the Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. The funeral service, with Rev. Garry Zuber officiating, will immediately follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be held in the Windfall Cemetery.

Because of Jesse's love of animals, the family suggests you consider a memorial donation in his name to Animal Care Sanctuary, P.O. Box A, East Smithfield, PA 18817.
