Joan Marcy Watkins, 83, of 381 Canton Ave., Monroeton, Pa., passed away Tuesday evening July 30, 2013, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.

Joan was born in Sayre, Pa., on July 6, 1930, the daughter of Walter and Dorothy Drislane Marcy. She was a graduate of Towanda High School class of 1946 and in early years was employed by the Ransom Insurance Agency in Towanda.

Joan was employed by Citizens & Northern Bank in Monroeton as branch manager, loan officer for the Towanda office and later as branch manager in Wysox for many years until her retirement. She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Towanda. In earlier years Joan was an avid bowler. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and was an avid New York Yankees fan.

She is survived by her husband, Edward L. Watkins; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen E. and Linda Watkins of Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Marcy and John Demangone of Reading, Pa.; grandchildren, Carrie (Chad) Smith of Athens, Casey (Nicole) Watkins of Lansdale, Pa., Lauren (Jamie) Vargason of Sayre, Nicholas Demangone and Nathan Demangone both of Reading, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Brady, Carson and Griffin Smith and Ryan Watkins

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Donald E. Watkins on April 27, 2013, and her step-father, Ralph Heath.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at SS Peter & Paul Church, Third Street, Towanda, Pa., with Rev. Edward Michelini, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will be private.

The family suggests that contributions be directed to the Monroeton Public Library, P.O. Box 145, Monroeton, PA 18832, in Joan's memory.
