Kandice R. Rought, 70, of 3010 Arnold Road, Athens, Windham Township, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, Dec. 7, 2012 at her home. Kandice was born in Sayre on Oct. 23, 1942 the daughter of Willard Burlingame and Dorothy Heeman Burlingame. She attended Wyalusing High School and in early years was employed by the Fontaine Weaving Company in Towanda and Herman Rynveld Sons Wreath Company in New Albany.

Kandice later served as matron at the Bradford County Correctional Facility in Towanda for several years. Kandice enjoyed making cutlets, baking, crocheting and embroidery. In earlier years, she was an avid women's league bowler and was a member of the Towanda Bowling Hall of Fame.
She is survived by her husband, Francis D. Rought at home; her children, Bonnie (David) Sullivan of Towanda, Dorothy (Delbert) Johnson of Lockwood, N.Y., Pamela Merrill of Batavia, N.Y., and Ralph (Marie) Brown of Columbia Cross Roads; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters Barbara Pierce, Beverly Brenner, Genevieve Urbaniak, Cheryl (Guy) Cook, Debbie Lane, Elizabeth Burlingame and Sandy Stroud; and brothers Willard (Lori) Burlingame, Ronnie (Sally) Burlingame, Robert and Jimmy Burlingame, Walter Vanderpool and Ralph Burlingame.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Karen Brown and brothers, Johnny and Joe Burlingame.
The funeral service will be held at 1 pm. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, with Pastor Timothy Geiger, Assistant Pastor of the Assembly of God Church, Towanda, officiating. Interment will follow in the Wysox Cemetery, Wysox. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
