On the afternoon of Friday, April 26, 2013, Lenore Helen Keagle Smith of Canton passed away quietly at Memorial Hospital in Towanda. She was 88 years of age.

Born in Canton on Oct. 31, 1924, she was the fourth of five children of Leon and Eleanor Parsons Keagle. She married her high school sweetheart, Olen Smith, and they shared more than 70 years together. Lenore was a homemaker and caregiver. Her family and friends were the center of her life. She was famous for her beautiful knitting and her baking. Lenore was active in her churches, always singing in the choir, first at Saint James Episcopal and later at the Canton Ecumenical Parish. She was an avid reader and music lover and was involved with the library and music club for many years.

She is survived by her husband Olen at home in Minnequa; her daughters and their families Janna and Ray Pitlyk, Anne and David, all of Albany, N.Y., Alaire and Mark Miller and Elliana of Canton, Pa., Aimee Miller of Granville, N.Y. and Matthew and Lisa Miller of Schenectady, N.Y.; brothers and sister-in-law Roger Keagle, of Owego, N.Y. and James and Audrey Keagle of Augusta, Ga.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; a son Richard D. Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law Phyllis Keagle Jones and Lloyd Jones, Kate and Howard Jones; sister-in-law Frances Keagle and brother-in-law Frank Carozza.

A time of visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at the Morse and Kleese Funeral Home, 94 N. Center St., Canton, Pa. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial donations be directed to the Green Free Library, 38 N. Center St., Canton, PA 17724; or the Animal Care Sanctuary, P.O. Box A, East Smithfield, PA 18817.
