Leo H. Kipp Sr., age 71, of New Albany, Pa., passed away on Thursday night, Feb. 13, 2014, with his loving family at his side.

Leo was born in Sayre, Pa. on June 27, 1942, a son of Martine Robinson Kipp and the late Leo Kipp. He met and married the former Joyce Chilson of Terrytown, Pa. on Feb. 25, 1961; they had celebrated their 52nd anniversary last year. In his early years he worked on dairy farms in the area, later the Benton Foundry for a few years, and then Taylor Beef for 24 years until his health prevented him from continuing.
He enjoyed being outdoors on the farm, he also liked to hunt. He was an avid fan of the WWE and the Pennsylvania Polka. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him as well as his special friend and co-pilot Frannie the dog.
Surviving are: his spouse, Joyce at home; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Leo (Rose) Kipp Jr. of New Albany, Pa., Robert (Jeannie) Kipp of Danielsville, Ga., Donald L. Kipp of Lexington, Tenn.; daughter, Anita M. Patton of Scotts Hill, Tenn.; brothers, Larry (Lois) Kipp of Philadelphia, Pa. and Lamar (Rosie) Kipp of Wyalusing, Pa.; sisters, Lena (Robert) Carichner of Hughesville, Pa. and Loretta (James) Abate of New Albany, Pa.; grandchildren, Leo (Felecia) Kipp III of New Albany, Pa., Ronald Kipp of Wyalusing, Pa., Cindy Westmoreland of Lexington, Tenn., Felicia Patton of Lexington, Tenn., Bobbi Jo Kipp of Laporte, Pa., Steven Kipp of Scranton, Pa., Connie Kipp of Athens, Pa., Alex Kipp of Athens, Pa., Chelsea Kipp of Lexington, Tenn., Hanna Kipp of Lexington, Tenn.; 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by granddaughter Mary Sue Kipp in 1992, and an infant great-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, Pa. with the Pastor Mike MacWhinnie and Rev. Romeyn Kipp, officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Evergreen, Pa.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday morning at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, Pa.
