Michael Joseph Wilcox, 69, formerly of Towanda, Pa., passed away Tuesday morning, June 18, 2013, at the Bradford County Manor in West Burlington Township, Pa.

Michael was born in Towanda on Feb. 4, 1944, the son of Guy E. Wilcox and Louise Considine Wilcox. He was a graduate of St. Agnes High School Class of 1961 and subsequently served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War. Michael was formerly employed by Yoder Tire Service in North Towanda and by the U.S. Postal Service in Athens, Pa., for over 20 years until declining health no longer permitted him to continue. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Towanda, and Knights of Columbus, Towanda, Council No. 3915, Fourth Degree where he formerly served as district deputy. Michael was very devoted to his family.
Surviving are his children, Mark Bradley Wilcox and wife Christina of Pittsburgh, Pa., Andrew Michael Wilcox and wife Jessica of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mary Elizabeth Wilcox and companion Robert Lutz of Towanda, and Anne Marie Wilcox of Towanda; grandchildren, Michael, Benjamin, Dominic, Anthony, Katelyn, Madilyn, Baylee, Brianna, Lilly and Abigail; sisters, Patricia Bodine of Chemung, N.Y., Sandra Lewis and husband George of Lockwood, N.Y., a brother, Paul Wilcox and wife Sally of Rochester, N.Y.; mother of his children, Helen Wilcox of Towanda; special cousin, Mary Francis O'Connor of Towanda; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Maynard Bodine.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. Recitation of the Rosary will be held Friday evening at the funeral home.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, June 22, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Third Street, Towanda, Pa. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, North Towanda, Pa., with Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 according full military honors.
