Sherry Mae Magee Christman Shelton, 73, passed away Oct. 15, 2013, at her home in Richmond, Va.

She was born Oct. 30, 1939. She was the youngest of the five Magee girls and was delivered at home in the oldest house in New Albany, the Allen House, by her grandfather Dr. A.J. Bird, remembered as the old country doctor, who had the maternity home there and had delivered her other four sisters. Her brother Jim was born in Memorial Hospital. She grew up in the same home and went to New Albany and Wyalusing schools. She graduated in 1957 with the first graduating class of the New Albany/Wyalusing consolidation. She then moved to Tennessee then Virginia, where she continued her life as a wonderful mother, loving wife and a loyal employee of the state of Virginia at Richmond, until retiring. She was a warm, caring, daughter, sister, mother, aunt, niece, friend and was dearly loved by all.

She is survived by her loving husband, Tom Shelton at home in Richmond, Va.; daughter, Lisa (Robert) Christman Buckner; granddaughter, Jordan; grandson, Joshua of Jefferson, Ga.; stepchildren, Michael (Susan) Shelton and Sandra Pleasants of Richmond, Va.; sisters, Jeanette (Darrell) Bown of Troy, Pa., Joan (Robert) Woodhead of Forksville, Pa., Carol (Bedford) (Jake) Levan of Muncy Pa.; brother, James King (Ruth) Magee of New Albany; nephews, nieces, aunts, uncle and life long friends, Loretta and Joe Pedro of Hughesville, Pa.

She was predeceased by her parents, James and Jessie (King) Magee; infant daughter, Vicky; sister, Sally VerBryck Lujeski; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Bedford.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, at the New Albany Methodist Church on Route 220. Dinner will follow. Private grave site services will be at a later date at the family's convenience.
