On the morning of Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, Virginia Margaret (Hall) (Graham) Derr of Roaring Branch passed away quietly at her residence surrounded by her beloved family. She was 93 years of age. Born in Sharpsburg on July 16, 1919, she was the daughter of Warren W. and Cecilia (Snyder) Hall. Virginia came to the Canton area at the age of 27. She was employed for many years as a machine operator at the former Canford Manufacturing Co., having begun working for the company when it was still located in the old milk station on N. Center Street.
The Guest Book is expired.
She retired in 1980. The responsibilities of being a home maker and working outside of the home at the same time never kept Virginia from being involved in her community.
She was a founding member of the Canton Mothers' Club and was involved with Canton Elementary School sports as well as Little League. Virginia was an avid reader and enjoyed being with her family. She was also a woman with an unshakable faith in the Lord and was a longtime member of the Newelltown United Methodist Church. She walked in His light throughout her life, and early Monday morning the Lord took her hand and led her home.
Virginia is survived by her sons Wellington "Tim" Graham of Roaring Branch and Wade W. (Dorthie) Graham of Canton; daughters Sue Ann (Edward) Kieffer of Dryden, N.Y. and Sherie Lynn (William) Cowan of Covington; sister-in-law Molly Hall of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren Melissa Smith, Jodi (Jim) McPherson, Wade Graham, Jr., Kari (Don) Harper, Kelli Fuller, Kristi Wood, Melinda Barrett, Rebecca Wilcox and Aviva Shay (Matt) Tappan; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Cecilia Hall, her husbands, Wellington "Tam" Graham and Raymond Derr, brothers Warren W. Hall and John W. Hall, and sister-in-law Peg Hall.
At a later date, a memorial service will be announced by Morse & Kleese Funeral Home of Canton.
