Norma Lee Howell, age 87, of New Albany, Pa., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, Pa.
Norma was born in Williamsport, on Feb. 3, 1927, a daughter of the late Earl V. and Mary E. McCarthy Bair. She attended school in Williamsport and married Willis C. Howell of New Albany, Pa., on Oct. 6, 1944. They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
Norma worked for a while as a waitress and was then employed for over 23 years at Dushore Lingerie, Dushore, PA until its closing.
She was a member of the New Albany United Methodist Church. She enjoyed raising her family and when she was younger, enjoyed playing guitar. She also liked to spend time at their cabin on the Susquehanna River. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking, gardening, and dancing and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving is her spouse Willis C. Howell, at home; son John M. Howell of New Albany, Pa.; daughter Sheryl L. Howell of Endicott, N.Y.; brother-in-law Carl Howell of New Albany, Pa.; granddaughter Julia M. Dudascik-Willis and husband Oral R. Willis of Clifton Park, N.Y.; two great-grandsons Theodore G. Willis of Clifton Park, N.Y. and Zavier Z. Willis of Clifton Park, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Naomi Hendricks; and three brothers Dorland Bair, Charles Bair, and Kenneth Bair.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, Pa., with her Pastor James P. Rouse, officiating. Interment will be in the Bradford County Memorial Park, Luther's Mill, Pa.
Friends may call at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, Pa. on Monday evening, May 19, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The family will provide the flowers and ask that memorial contributions be sent to the Dushore Fire Co. & Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 1, Dushore, PA 18614
