Born on Feb. 2, 1943 in Shunk, Lawrence Decker "Larry" Frey Jr. was the first son of the late Lawrence Sr. and Leona G. (Brown) Frey. He was a graduate of Loyalsock Area High School and later earned an Associates degree from Keystone Community College in La Plume, Pa. In earlier years, Larry enjoyed working in farming, electrical and plumbing trades. He later found his calling as an owner/operator cross-country truck driver for the next 20 years.
Larry had a special attention for details and design. He customized the cab of this truck and was currently building his own home from plans he developed. He was a member of The Brotherhood of the Order of the Arrow and was active in Forksville's PA Bow Hunters Festival from its beginning. As a young man, he earned the Boy Scout of America's honor of Eagle Scout and attended their prestigious Philmont Ranch in New Mexico. Larry always appreciated nature, especially Sullivan County's Camp Brule', and supported many Scouting improvements there.
Surviving are his two sons Larry Frey III of Sayre, Pa., and Steven (Tatsuko) Frey of Lawrenceville, Ga.; three grandchildren Megan Frey, Andrew Plossl and Evan Frey; two sisters Ina (Donald) Harding of Athens, Pa., and Lillian Waldeisen of Williamsport, Pa.; a sister-in-law Maureen (Swisher) Frey of Unityville, Pa., and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Larry also leaves his friend and companion, Bea McCue.
He was predeceased by a brother Don Frey and daughter Susan Plossl.
Family invites friends to attend a celebration of Larry's life at the Shunk United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 19, at 10:30 a.m. Dan Crooke, family friend, will officiate the memorial service with the burial following in the Quaker Cemetery in Shunk.
