Gerald Francis Bride, 92, of Asylum Township, Pa., passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, in Towanda, Pa.

Gerald was born in Towanda on Nov. 18, 1921, the son of Benjamin Francis Bride and Helen Espenlaub Bride. He attended the Bull School in Asylum Township and was a graduate of the Towanda High School class of 1939.
Gerald attended the Williamsport Technical Institute and then was employed as a machinist and die maker by Sylvania Electric in Towanda until his retirement. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.
Gerald was involved with forestry and environmental issues and was a member of the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy. Gerald was a skilled woodworker and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his niece and nephews and cousins and their families.
Surviving are his niece, Mary Street Brandenburg; nephews, Thomas F. Street and wife Nan and their children, Jeffrey and Stephen; William J. Street and wife Margaret and their children David, Melissa and Christina; a cousin, J. William Bride and his wife Kate; godson, J. Edward Bride and wife Lisa; and many more cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Jean Bride Street.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday evening, at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Third Street, Towanda, Pa. Interment will follow in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery in North Towanda, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy, 330 Government Place, Williamsport, PA 17701, in Gerald Bride's memory.
