Irvin W. Rawlings Jr. 72, of 244 Patton Hill Rd., Towanda, Pa., passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 at his home.

Irvin was born in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 10, 1941, a son of the late Irvin W. Rawlings Sr. and Catherine Turnbull Rawlings. Irvin was employed by the Department of Defense as a cartographer for many years until his retirement in 1995. He worked on many important map projects over the years including mapping of the moon. Irvin was a member of the Monroeton Rod & Gun Club, Bridge Street Hill Rod & Gun Club and Beirne-Webster VFW Post in Towanda. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and working on vehicles.
Surviving are his children Richard W. Rawlings of Seattle, Wash., Lillea V. Newman and husband Brian of Towanda, Sara S. Hollett and husband Joe of Towanda, Andrew T. Rawlings of Towanda; grandchildren Wilson, Howie, Gracie, Madison, Ali and Kristi; brother Bernard Rawlings of Washington, D.C.; sister Ella Leigh and husband Donald of Bristow, Va.; a niece and two nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, Aug. 5, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa.
