Sylvia Alberta Crayton MacDonald, 96, of 917 S. Main St., Towanda, Pa., passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 17, 2014 at home.

Sylvia was born Aug. 9, 1918 in Towanda Township, Pa., a daughter of Roy J. Crayton and Bertha McNeal Crayton. She was a graduate of Towanda High School class of 1936 and in early years was employed by the Berlinger Silk Mill in Towanda. Sylvia was employed by the Evans & Chaffee store in Towanda for over 20 years until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing and knitting.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Jeanne and Paul Streby of Towanda; granddaughters Paula Lamphere (Joe Allen) of Wysox, Jenny Sessoms and husband John of Ocala, Fla., Nicole Pike (Bryan Kinner) of Ulster; great-grandchildren Trevor and Lindsey Lamphere, Damon Houser, Jude Sessoms, Dashel Pike, Areyona Mahoney, Jack Sessoms; sister Genevieve Ennis of Towanda and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon E. "Bud" MacDonald, on July 8, 1987; son David Carl MacDonald on April 5, 1995; infant great-grandson David Scott Lamphere on April 15, 1987; sister and brother-in-law Anna and Raymond Champion; brother and sister-in-law David and Jenny Crayton; and brother-in-law, Howard Ennis.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
Interment will be in the Wysox Cemetery, Wysox, Pa.
