G. Rodney Williams, 88, of 4119 Liberty Corners Road, Towanda, Monroe Twp., Pa., passed away Wednesday evening, Dec. 1, 2010 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Memorial Hospital in N. Towanda Twp., Pa. Rodney was born July 1, 1922, in Towanda Twp., Pa., the only child of the late Ralph and Ethel Crofut Williams.

He attended Towanda High School and later served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Jan. 5, 1946, he married the former Marie E. Elliott in Monroeton, Pa. Rodney was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in Towanda for 25 years and by GTE Sylvania in Towanda for over 20 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Liberty Corners Grange and Beirne-Webster VFW Post No. 1568 Towanda. Rodney served as caretaker of the Liberty Corners Cemetery for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and gardening.
He is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Marie E. Williams; his children, Donald K. Williams and his wife Juanita, Wayne R. Williams, Marlene L. Mosier and her husband Charles; grandchildren, Wayne Williams and his wife Stacey, Scott Williams and his wife Tammy, Sharon Mosier, Scott Mosier and his wife Renee; several great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Elliott.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Dec. 5, at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa.
The funeral and committal service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 3 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jean Montgomery, pastor of the Liberty Corners United Methodist Church, officiating.
Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 will accord military honors at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Liberty Corners Cemetery, Monroe Twp., Pa.
