During the early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, Mary Ellen (Singer) (Lewis) Johnson of Troy passed away quietly at her residence. She was 61 years of age and was born in Elmira, N.Y. on Feb. 17, 1951.

Mary was raised in Elmira by her mother Ramona (nee Ward) and her stepfather Gerald Lewis. During her adult life Mary had been employed at the former Canton Manufacturing Company and more recently Bradford County Manor. In her free time she enjoyed fishing, baking, bingo, poker and Euchre with her friends at the Canton VFW. But more importantly she was a devoted wife to her husband, Howard, a loving mother to her three children and a devoted grandmother.
She is survived by her husband Howard, at home; son Matthew (and Corin) Lewis of Alba; daughters Lori Terry of Canton and Angela Lewis of Troy; brothers Robert Singer, Sam Lewis, Carl Lewis, Scott Lewis and Gerald Lewis; sisters Kathy Herandez Shirley Schledorn, Stella Vazquez and Cindy Lewis; and grandchildren Kristin and Brittany Terry, Riley and Aiden Lewis, Benjamin Ward, Andrew Watkins and Brianna Ott; two special friends Lisa Sampson and Donna Eddy; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brother Gerald Singer and sister Veronica Laudenslager.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31 at Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, 94 N. Center St., Canton, Pa. Service will follow at 7 p.m.
