Iva Ayres, 70, of Canton, Pa., passed away peacefully at home into the arms of her Lord on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013. Her passing was unexpected and she will be greatly missed.

Born in Shunk, Pa. on Aug. 31, 1942, Iva Ann (Norton) Dean Ayres was a daughter of the late Rachel (Tule) and Harvey Norton. Born sixth of 14 brothers and sisters, she grew up in Shunk and attended Sullivan County High School. In early years, Iva was employed at American Silk, Canford Manufacturing and Eureka.
"Nana," as she was affectionately called, enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. She was an excellent seamstress and was skilled at crocheting and embroidery. In spite of physical limitations, she blessed family and friends with her gifts.
Iva attended the New Life Church in Canton and was known as a woman of great faith and prayer.
Surviving are her loving husband of 47 years K. Earl Ayres; a daughter Tania (Jim) Mullen; two sons Jeffrey (Stephanie) Dean and Tim (Roni) Dean; seven grandchildren Ben (Karla) Mullen, Anthony Mullen, Lyndci Mullen, Joshua Dean, Sharae Dean, Ariel Dean and Sarah Nittinger; two great-grandchildren Danae and Greta Mullen; 12 siblings Neva (Lawrence) Hartford, Eileen Donofrio, Malon (Dottie) Norton, Max and special sister-in-law Minnie Norton, Artist (Burr) Snell, Galen Norton (fiancée, Cleone Schweikart), Arla (Butch) Pepper, Darrel Norton, Hal (Sharon) Norton, Rhoda (Bernie) DeLellis, Rheda (Larry) Baumunk and Marcele (Steve) Clark; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She was predeceased by an infant son and a sister, Marjorie Heath.
Calling hours are 2–4 p.m. Sunday at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton. The funeral service will be held at the New Life Church, McMurray Road and Route 14 north of Canton at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28 with Pastors Glen and Arlen Landis officiating. Burial will follow in Windfall Cemetery.
The family will provide flowers and suggest your consideration of a memorial in Iva's name to the New Life Church, 299 McMurray Rd. Canton, PA 17724.
