Clara Smith McNeal Wizelman, 89, of Orwell Township, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Irvin Smith following declining health. Clara was born in Laceyville, on Feb. 28, 1924, one of 11 children of the late Morris Smith Sr. and Dorothy Wells Smith. She was a graduate of Wyalusing High School class of 1943. In early years, Clara was employed by the Berlinger Silk Mill, Sylvania Electric and Mills Hospital in Towanda. She was later employed by garment manufacturing businesses in Standing Stone, Stevensville and Wysox for a number of years.

Clara was a member of the Wysox Presbyterian Church and the Wysox Prayer Circle. She was a life member of the Haigh's Pond VFW Post No. 6824 Ladies Auxiliary. Clara possessed great love for her family and home. She enjoyed traveling, working jigsaw puzzles and playing board games.

She is survived by her children, Donna Smith and husband Irvin of Orwell Township; Connie Van Horn and husband James of Elmira, N.Y., Richard McNeal and wife Lois of North Carolina, Randy McNeal and wife Terry of Athens, Patti Coyle and husband Tim of Barton, N.Y., Terri LaBarre and Dave Ham of Rome and Greg Simons and wife Lisa of Nichols; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; step children, Leslie Wizelman of Lake Wesauking and Todd Wizelman and wife Belle of Sugar Run; a step granddaughter; several step great grandchildren; a sister, Jean Canfield of Wyalusing; brothers, Frank Smith and wife Vernille of New Mexico, Freddy Smith and wife Lorri of Athens and Maynard Smith and Gail Moore of Wyalusing; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; her husband, Leon "Spike" Wizelman on April 23, 2004, daughter and her husband, Dotti and Ernie Yates, grandson, Matthew McNeal, step son, Kenneth Wizelman, brothers, Morris Smith Jr., Dale Smith, Willard Smith and sisters, Iva Collins, Thelma French and Helen Bouse and husband Ralph.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, with Pastor Clinton Rice officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Wysox Cemetery, Wysox.
