Adrien W. Doiron

New London - Adrien W. Doiron, 89, of Ocean Ave., New London, passed away on July 6, 2014, at his residence.

He was born in Springdale, Maine, the son of the late Adolfo and O'Delia Doiron.

He married Margaret "Honey" Alfieri in January of 1956. Honey passed away in 1993.

Adrien served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 3, 1943, until Jan. 27, 1946, stationed in Germany and the Ardennes. He received two purple hearts for injuries sustained during battle. After the war, he worked as an automotive technician and then at Electric Boat as a STO tech, retiring in 1990 after 32 years.

He is survived by his son, Bruce W. Doiron of Niantic; a daughter, Paula Doiron of New London; his granddaughter, Kailyn Doiron, who attends Boston University; two sisters, Rita Cima and her husband, Frank, of Ledyard and Lorraine Rinbolt and her husband, Robert, of Montville; and six nephews. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Janine Iannazzo

He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Griffin.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. Interment will follow with military honors in St. Mary Cemetery, New London. There are no calling hours.
