New London - Cher Knust, 62, of Rosemary St., New London, died Monday morning, Feb. 24, 2014, at Kindred Crossings East, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born May 29, 1951, in Tulsa, Okla., the daughter of Urban Donth and Alberta (Petrella) Donth.
Cher was a well known, personable bartender in New London for many years working at the former Bank Street CafÃ©, Yknot CafÃ©, and many others. She was the former owner of Full Moon CafÃ©. She enjoyed animals very much and cared for any animal that happened to come by her home.
She is survived by her daughter, Heather Knust and her partner, Patrick Myles, of Norwich; a sister, Patricia Spitznagel and her husband, Mark Doyle, of Harmony, R.I.; a brother, Donald Donth of Providence; a half sister, Kelly Godin and her husband, Charles, of Warwick, R.I.; a half brother, David Donth and his wife, Ruth, of Warwick; and grandchildren, Demia and Patrick Myles.
She was predeceased by her longtime companion, David Facas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, New London. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London.
