Waterford - Elizabeth R. Robbins, 79, of Waterford, entered eternal life on Thursday, June 13, 2013.
She was born Dec. 4, 1933, in New London, the daughter of the late Agostino and Elvera (Giquinto) Rossi. Betty grew up in East New London where she was known as "little Betty", graduated from the former Chapman Technical High School, class of 1951, and was a member of the varsity cheerleading squad. She was united in marriage to Frank S. Robbins on April 21, 1979 in New London. Mr. Robbins survives her.
She was formerly employed at St. Bernard Boys High School in the cafeteria. She later was employed at the former United Nuclear in Uncasville in food service, transferring to operator and data processing. Betty enjoyed playing cards, visiting local casinos and was an avid fan of the New York Giants football team.
Besides her husband Frank, she is survived by two children and their spouses, Michael and Deborah Duggan of Niantic and Rayna and Richard Dakin of Old Lyme. She will be especially missed by her sister, Mary (Linc) Hoffa of Waterford, "Betty was not only my sister, but my best friend."; two brothers, Donald (Christine) Rossi of Colchester and Joseph (Cheryl) Rossi of Jupiter, Fla. Four grandchildren, Michael (Amy) and Matthew Duggan, Lindsay, and Eddie Freeman; two great-grandchildren, Maria and Paige Duggan. Four step-children, Linda St. Pierre, Francine Robbins (Bruce C.), Frank Robbins Jr. and Jeff Robbins (Cathy A.) and their children and grandchildren. Also, many nieces and nephews who loved their "auntie Betty".
Her family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. A funeral home service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment is private.
