Waterford - Helen Andriola, 90, of 9 Connshire Drive, in Waterford, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at her home.
Helen was born on Jan. 24, 1920, in New London, the daughter of Thomas and Amelia (Dembia) Kenn.
She had been married to the late Richard B. Andriola who passed away in 1980.
For many years, Mrs. Andriola had worked in the security department at Electric Boat in Groton. She was a former member of the Electic Boat Athletic Club and its women's golf league, and had won several awards. She was also an avid gardener known for her flowers and her love of the land itself.
Her survivors include a son, Richard Andriola of Waterford; a sister, Gladys Kopko of Montville; two brothers, Joseph Kenn of Niantic and Stanley Kenn of Waterford; two grandchildren, Ann-Marie Andriola and Scott Andrews, as well as two great-grandchildren, John Anthony Washburne and Noel-Marie Carlson.
She had also been predeceased by her two sisters, Sophie Burgess and Anna Koss.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Drive, Groton. Her burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery in New London. Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be directed to the Salvation Army, 11 Governor Winthrop Blvd., New London, CT 06230.
