Robert A. Bliven Sr.

New London - Robert A. Bliven Sr. entered eternal life April 26, 2014.

Robert was born on Oct. 14, 1932, in New London, to the late Harry Bliven and Mildred (Britton) Bliven. A Fitch High School graduate, he served in the U.S. Air Force, where he proudly became a Korean War veteran. Later in life, Robert was employed at the Holiday Inn as a food and beverage manager for 25 years and went on to retire from Whaling City Ford. Robert was also a past Exalted Ruler at the New London Lodge of Elks 360.

Robert is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Bliven of New London; sons, Robert Bliven Jr., Harry Bliven, Mark Bliven, and William Thornton; and his daughters, Joni Lynn Sullivan, Rhonda Thornton, and Laurie Thornton; as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Bride Brook Rehabilitation Center for their care and support.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, at Thomas L. Neilan and Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. All are welcome to attend the graveside service that will take place 10 a.m. on Friday at Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London.
