Lillian Lester

New London - Lillian Crowley Lester, 86, of 99 Montauk Avenue in New London died Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at the Bayview Health Care in Waterford.

She was born on Sept. 19, 1918, in New London, the daughter of the late John and Mary Avery Crowley Sr.

Lillian was married to the late Frederick G. Lester in 1951. Mr. Crowley died in November of 1961.

She had graduated in 1936 from the former Williams Memorial Institute, now The Williams School, and had worked for over 40 years as an electrical draftsman at the Electric Boat Co. in Groton, retiring in 1980.

Mrs. Crowley was a member of over 50 years of the Crowley Club.

Her survivors include five nephews, William and Kevin Crowley, of New London, with whom she had made her home, James Crowley, also of New London, John Crowley, of Ledyard, and Patrick Crowley, of Waterford; a niece, Martha Shea, of Wallingford; sister-in-law, Grace E. Crowley, of Groton; seven grand nieces and nephews, a great-grand niece and two great-grand nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she had also been predeceased by her brother, John Crowley Jr.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 18 at the St. Mary's Cemetery in New London. There are to be no visiting hours.

Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London is in charge of arrangements.
