Allen Anderson Obituary

Stonington - Allen N. "Andy" Anderson, 83, of Stonington, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, joining his wife and soulmate, Deborah (Dey) Anderson.

Andy grew up in Chatham, Mass., and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon graduating from the University of Maine with a degree in mechanical engineering, he began a 31 year career at Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics, rising to the position of manager of planning.

Andy was a gifted sailor, and was extremely successful in the Off Soundings racing circuit as the skipper of "Tigress." He was an active member of the Ram Island Yacht Club in Noank since 1959, and served as commodore in 1984; a member of the Wadawanuck Yacht Club, and served as commodore of the Off Soundings Club from 1997-98.

He leaves his memory and love to his sons, Mark Anderson of Baltimore, Md. and Scott Anderson of Louisville, Ky.; and his daughter, Amy Ledoux of Annapolis, Md. Andy is also survived by his siblings, Judith Ward of Chatham, Mass. and LeRoy Anderson of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; as well as three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Our family extends our sincerest appreciation to the staff of the Avalon Health Center in Mystic for all their compassionate care.

No viewing, visitation, or funeral service is planned. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Mark, Scott and Amy,

I am sorry to hear about your Dad. He was the best "Bad joke" teller around. You were kind enough to share him during the holidays. We were a crazy bunch at the table.Please let me know when you celebrate his life. I'm sure the stories will be full of laughter and love. From EB to the Christmas table..How could anyone not love him. With the salt of the ocean on his face...

Mark, Scott and Amy. I have many fond memories of your dad and Debbie as their cleaning lady for seven years. we settled many world affairs and shared life stories. He loved his family and grands. was always proud of your accompolishments. hugs to you all.

Very saddened to learn of this; knew Andy well for a long time at EB. He was a great guy, He had good humor and was a great leader in the Planning Department for a long time. He was respected by all.
