Adella M. "Della" Daly

Waterford - Adella M. Daly, 96, of Waterford, passed away on July 25, 2013, from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

Della was born in Waterbury, on Sept. 8, 1916, the second of eight children of Joseph and Ursula Kailukaitis.

Della married George J. Daly on July 9, 1940. They had two sons, George Joseph Daly Jr., and Thomas Edward Daly. Her husband passed away in 1983, and in 1986, she and Tom moved to Waterford to be closer to George Jr. and his family.

She was an avid baker. She enjoyed socializing with her friends and volunteering at the Waterford Senior Center Nutrition Program for 19 years. Above all, she was devoted to caring for her son, Tom, who had Down's Syndrome at home for nearly 60 years until he passed way in 2007.

She was also predeceased by George Jr. at age 60 in 2004, and two brothers, Joseph Kailukaitis and Peter Kailukaitis.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marjorie Daly; three grandchildren, Kimberly Daly, Wendy Daly and her husband, Marc DiSilvestro, and Sean Daly and his wife, Carmel Daly; three brothers, John Kailukaitis and his wife, Esther, Gary Kailukaitis, and Edward Kailukaitis; two sisters, Anne Brown and Theresa Kacerguis; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Marjorie Ferencz.

Funeral services in Waterbury will be private.
