Barbara Swauger Obituary

Groton - Barbara J. Swauger, 73, of Brandegee Ave., Groton, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, New London.

She was born on March 15, 1940, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the daughter of Harry and Harriet (Fron) Wagner. Barbara had worked for over 23 years as a store clerk for the U.S. Civil Service at the U.S. Submarine Base Commissary in Groton.

Her survivors include three children and their spouses, Dr. James E. and Kelly Swauger Jr. of Clemmons, N.C., Alison Melody and Joseph Scheetz of Watch Hill, R.I. and Groton, and Sandra Lee and Douglas Horecki of Michigan; a sister, Jacqueline Vollink; and a brother, Richard Wagner, both of Grand Rapids; and five grandchildren, Jessica Ann Swauger, Caitlin Fleming Swauger, Roxanne Electra Scheetz, Stone Stephen Scheetz and Justin Douglas Horecki.

Barbara had also been predeceased by two sisters, Donna Lee Briel and Rose Deuby; and a brother, Jerry Wagner.

Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton, is assisting her family with the arrangements which are to be private.

Her family requests that any donations in her memory be directed to the Charity of the Donors' Choice.
