Darrell Thomas Obituary
He was born on Sept. 8, 1943, in Kentucky to Darrell Dante Thomas Sr. and Garnet Gibson-Thomas.
He was married to Bessie A. Boiselle-Lamb-Thomas on Jan. 2, 1966.
Darrell is survived by his wife, his father, his brother, Timothy Thomas from Columbus, Ohio; his sons, Martin I. Lamb and Darrell Lee Thomas and two granddaughters; a daughter, Carol Lamb-Bond and two granddaughters and a grandson; as well as two great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons.
He was predeceased by his mother, his sister, Donna Thomas-Huffman, and a son, Thomas C. Lamb, who gave him five granddaughters and two grandsons, who also have given him a great-granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Darrell served in the U.S. Navy as a dispersing clerk aboard the USSN Saratoga CV-60 for six years. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier, for Tri County Distributors as a truck driver, and for Electric Boat where he worked for 37 years.
Darrell was a lifetime member of the Groton Elks Club #2163. He was also a member of the VFW Post 189 in New London, and he spent most of his spare time making his wife and family happy.
Byles-Groton Memorial Home is assisting his family with a private service to be held in Jordan Cemetery in Waterford.
