Dear Lacourse Family:

I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss. I will always have such wonderful fond memories of my times with Mr. Lacourse as his photographer assistant or "flash gal"! We would often be driving crazily, late for the wedding or trying to get the best shots...but we always had fun! My love for photos and photography was definitely based in all he taught me! May he rest in peace and you remember only good memories.

Dear LaCourse family,
I am so very sorry for your loss, my sincere condolences.
I hated math, but enjoyed my class with Mr. LaCourse. He helped me out a lot, and I did much better than I might have otherwise. Photography with him was lots of fun, and a great experience. Rest in peace, I will remember you fondly. (Annette Craddock, class of 78)

Please accept our sincere condolences from the nurses office at Fitch High. Mr. Lacouse was indeed a dedicated and
enthusiastic teacher. A man that did
not want to be under the spot light but always had something to bring to the show. He was always upbeat and inspiring and we were very privileged to have him part of the Fitch team.

I had Mr. Lacourse for Advanced Alg-Trig my junior year at Fitch. I find it hard to believe that he wasn't even 30 when he taught that class! That class was so unique that we even had the "Alg-Trig Picnic" at a classmates home just as spring turned into summer, and it was featured on a page in our yearbook that year. Mr. Lacourse took a beautiful picture of me at that picnic, sitting on the edge of the pool. I still have it, in a 5x7, in my box of old photos that have survived the years. Thank you, Mr. Lacourse. You were an excellent teacher and a good man. I am very sorry for the family's loss.

Don was a wonderful brother-in-law and a wonderful friend. I admired his spirit and zest for life. Always up for a new challenge, after retiring from teaching at Fitch HS for 37 years, he embraced online education and became an associate faculty in the math department at Post University.

Dear Clare, Adam and Ryan,

We new Don as a professional photographer, where we often shared the pleasure of working together at weddings, while providing the musical entertainment as a member of the band (Spectrum). He was a great guy and what a surprise to see this announcement. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family.

Wow! Mr. LaCourse was my Photography teacher, and a VERY nice man. I remember my last day of class with him (my family was moving to another state). He told me I should shoot and develop pictures of anything that would make a good memory of groton/fitch instead of the assignment we had for that week. I still have those pictures, as well as the interest for taking them. Sad to see that he has passed away, but I will never forget him.

Many years have passed since we walked and talked the corridors of Fitch as classmates. Too often these days, we read of classmates who have passed on. I have often thought of Don over the years and remember him as a very decent person. His absence will be mourned and missed by many.

August 19, 2013

So very sorry to hear of Don's passing. He was our wedding photographer back in 1996, and also did a family photo for us that is still cherished to this day. He had a way of capturing images that were timeless. My sincere condolences to you and yours... Janice Ouellette (Murphy)
