Donald Sawyer Obituary
Born in Norwich, on Feb. 17, 1947, he was the son of the late George M. and Agnes B. (Papineau) Sawyer.
Donald was employed as the facilities manager for Thomas G. Faria Co., in Uncasville.
Butch loved being on the water and was a member of the Westerly Power Squadron, Masons Island Marina, and the Sea Ray Owners Club.
Besides his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, he will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Jacqueline Nowell and her husband, Jeffrey, of Charlestown, R.I., and Jeanene Sawyer and her husband, Brian Daley, of Kingston, R.I. He was the doting grandfather of Jack and Sage Puckett; and the brother of James Sawyer and George Sawyer, both of Norwich. He also leaves his granddog, Jingle Belle Daley.
He was predeceased by his sister, Janie Sawyer.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly, with a service of remembrance at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family invites you to bring your favorite "Butch" story to share. Burial will be private.
Donations may be made to the Mystic Seaport, 75 Greenmanville Ave., Mystic, CT 06355.

Mr. Sawyer was such a witty caring Dad growing up, always with that big smile to greet us "kids"(friends of Jeanene and Jackie) and such a devoted grandfather and spouse as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family during this very difficult time.

Nina, I am so sorry for your loss. I have not seen Butch in many years. It was very sad to hear of his passing. We went to trade school together and of course grew up in the same neighborhood. Nina, Jackie and Jeanene, I can't believe it. I had just seen him and Nina a few weeks ago and he looked great.
