Edna Pelka Obituary
She was born in Wilmington, N.C. on Oct. 31, 1926. She married Robert Pelka, Mr. Pelka died on April 13, 2013. Mrs.Pelka worked for Foxwoods Casino in the bingo hall for over 20 years.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Pelka of Quaker Hill; and two daughters, Aimee Wendland of Niantic and Candida Griffin of Salem. Seven grandchildren, Mechele Shiner-McCracken, Melissa Lambert, Graham Pelka, Nicole Renick, Elliott Boots, Taylor Wendland and William Wendlend III; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Matthew Pelka.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. Interment will follow in Jordan Cemetery, Waterford. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Center for Hospice Care Southeastern Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.

I remember visiting with the children, and Aunt Edna always made a delicious meal. Her sweet southern accent and quick way of speaking often left me wondering just what had been said. She always seemed so good natured, and loved coming home from the bingo parlor with a fist full of dollars. We will all miss her, but we will never forget her sweet, southern charm. Love the Pelka-Vento family.

May she rest in peace. I remember all the good times we had together, the help that Aunt Edna and Uncle Bob gave to Diane and I as newly weds. And the good care they took of Diane when I was at sea. Both of them were great role models. Love them both. I remember all of Edna's love and caring and her concerns for all. Rest in Peace.
