Elnora Green Obituary
She was born in New London, on Oct. 29, 1921, the daughter of Wilson and Annie (Huntley) Decker. She was the widow of Lester Green, who passed away June 17, 2001.
Elnora went to Jordan School in Waterford and graduated from Williams Memorial Institute in 1939 and Mitchel College in 1941. She worked as a secretary and then as a sales representative for the Thomas Cook Travel Agency in New York City for 30 years.
She was a member of the Huntington Street Baptist Church, and she had served as president of the Ladies Service Guild and as a deaconess.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, William Nesto of Old Lyme; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Weaver of Old Lyme and Marion Ely of Middletown; and a lifelong friend, Barbara Brooks of Charlestown, R.I., whose friendship she cherished.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Florence Green and Hazel Baker.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London. Interment will be in Jordan Cemetery, Waterford. There are no visiting hours.
Donations in her memory may be directed to the Huntington Street Baptist Church, 29 Huntington St., New London, CT 06320.
