Eugene Buchka Obituary
He was born on May 12, 1944, in Norwich, to the late Alex and Edith (Srednicki) Buchka. After completing high school, he enlisted in the Army National Guard, where he served for over 20 years. He received his honorable discharge in 1990, holding the rank of sergeant first class. Thereafter he worked as a machinist and retired from Electric Boat in Groton as a production detail planner.
Eugene enjoyed fishing and boating and was very proud of his service to his country.
He is survived by his son, Joseph Buchka; daughter, Katrina Kolasa; sister, Sonia Burton; grandchildren, Darrien Grannelle and Payton Howard; nephews, Joseph, Christopher, and Patrick Burton; cousins, Fred Shultz, Patricia Fernald and her husband, Blaine; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Norwich. A calling hour will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

To the Buchka Family,
Sorry about the passing of "Euge." I grew up next to him on Central Ave. when the family lived in the grandmother's house and we used to fish to the rear of Atlantic Carton on N. Main St. Then I stayed overnight at the Uncasville home and we fished the river for flatfish neat the power house and bottled gas company. I recall the live monkey "Euge" had when the family lived on the 2nd floor, and it used to jump all over the kitchen. Those were the fun years. God bless and may he rest in peace.
