Old Lyme - Florence B. (Bowen) Head, 95, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at her daughter's home in Stirling, N.J.

Florence was born in Jersey City, N.J., and lived 40 years in Old Lyme and 10 years in North Plainfield, N.J., before moving to Stirling three years ago.
She received her bachelor of arts degree in English from the College of New Rochelle, N.Y. She was a devoted homemaker.
Florence was a parishioner of Christ the King in Old Lyme. She enjoyed photography and poetry and had a poem published in a literary magazine.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Coulter Head, in 2001.
She is survived by a son, Joseph and his wife, Colleen; four daughters, Mary Head, Elizabeth Heard and her husband, Tim, 2006, Cecilia and her husband, Joseph Wagner, and Patricia Babish; a brother, Robert Bowen; a sister, Rosemary Webber; nine grandchildren, David, Christina, Michael, Margaret, Elizabeth, Joseph, Catherine, Stephen, and Michael; and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Domenic, and Gloria.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church in Stirling. Interment will follow at St. Mary Stony Hill Cemetery, Watchung, N.J. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, 1012 Valley Road, Gillette, N.J.
