Frederick Wydler Obituary

Mystic - Frederick "Ken" Wydler of Mystic, born June 29, 1930, passed away peacefully the morning of Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013.

Ken was the beloved husband of 56 years to Muriel "Kitty" (Beebe) Wydler. He was born in Old Mystic, the son of Fred and Nellie (Pavelski) Wydler. He lived his life in Mystic, attending Mystic Academy, Robert E. Fitch High School, and UCONN. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force before joining the U.S. Coast Guard Band, where he had the honor of performing in both the Inauguration Ceremony and Funeral Procession of U.S. President John F. Kennedy Jr., and many other events of the state before retiring after 16 years of service in 1971. Ken worked as a senior designer at Electric Boat until his retirement.

Ken's primary focus was his family. His favorite times were spent with them, sharing meals and storytelling. He had a great love for music and enjoyed serving his church. He especially enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons. Ken was passionate about life, and shared that with everyone he came into contact with. He will be most remembered for his funny antidotes, sense of humor, and his smile.

Besides his wife, he leaves behind daughters, Victoria (Wydler) Brouillard and her husband, Roland, Jennifer Bacchiocchi and her husband, Aldo John; and his grandchildren, Max and Alex Bacchiocchi. He leaves behind a brother, Robert D. Wydler his wife, Jini Wydler; and a sister-in-law, Mariane Wydler; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, William Kurt Wydler; and his brother, James A. Wydler.

Burial will be private, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at the Groton Bible Chapel.

Kitty and Family,
Ken was a complete joy in my life. From his Sunday morning announcements at GBC (which I tried my best not to smile at Ken), to his love for music and all the young folks at church. I was sad that I was out of town and wasn't able to see Ken or attend his service. He was so encouraging to me in a quiet manner. Ken is resting now in the arms of our Lord.
God bless you all and take joy in the many lives that Ken has touched.

Vickie and family, I'll be thinking of you during the coming times. It's not easy, but we know he is happy and well now! Perhaps he is enjoying some beautiful music with my Mom and Dad right now :) He was a talented and funny guy. Keep your memories close, Linda (Carlson) Wray.

To the Wydler Family... It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of your dear husband and father Ken. As a young, developing trumpet player, I had the privilege of taking private music lessons with Mr. Wydler. Throughout my years in junior and senior high school, he worked with me at my home every week, and helped develop my playing skills. In time, my music and horn playing took me to music festivals, brass quintets, college band, and playing with an Army Band as well. "Ken" always challenged me to be my best, embrace new skills, and how to grow and aspire to be a professional musician. He always showed great patience and support, and we became great "trumpet buddies". I always looked forward to seeing him at our weekly lessons not just as a mentor, but as a friend. I have Ken to thank for being a HUGE part of my music foundation that provided me with so much joy and happiness in my life. I will always remember him with the upmost respect for his gifts given to me. My deepest condolences on your loss.
