George Palmer Obituary
He was born July 21, 1936, in Fort Fairfield, Maine, the son of the late George W. and Catherine (Fields) Palmer.
George retired from Connecticut College in 2000, after many years employed as a mechanic.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon (Murphy) Palmer; a daughter, Kerry Palmer of Waterford; three sons, Cory Palmer of Connecticut, Greg Palmer and Chris Palmer, both of Florida; and a brother, Roger Palmer of Colchester.
He was predeceased by his son, Gary Palmer; three brothers, Richard, Thomas, and Paul Palmer; and a sister, Sandra Iead.
George was his own man of quiet strength and dry wit. He enjoyed car cruising his 1959 Cadillac Eldorado and was a member of the Yesteryear of Oakdale Auto Club.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Jefferson Ave., New London.
Contributions may be made to a cause supporting working families.

Sharon & Family..I am so sorry for your lost. George & I frist met in 95 ;)!Then as time went on I would see you guys at the cars shows.He would always honk the horn as he drove by on old Colchester.We would chat about things in the old beit bros (IGA).For I am so glad I got to know him R.I.P.

My deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to you all. George and I saw alot of each other over the years. I can't even guess how many car shows and cruises we went to over the years. George always had a smile and a handshake for me. I will miss him and his '59 Caddy, but will remember him with much fondness. Again, my sympathy to you all. GODSPEED my friend !!
