Gunther Hepprich Obituary

Cornwall Bridge - Gunther Charles Hepprich, 90, of Kent Road, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013.

Charlie was born Feb. 5, 1923, in Germany, the son of the late Walter and Martha (Wuttge) Hepprich and brother to the late Ursula Dinneen.

Charlie became a U.S. Citizen in 1936 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was co-owner and president of Cornwall Electric Co. from 1948 until his retirement in 1987. He was a member and founder of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Cornwall. In addition to being a charter member of the Cornwall Volunteer Fire Dept., Charlie was an active member of the Litchfield Hills Historical Automobile Club and served on the Board of Directors at the Torrington Savings Bank.

He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Emily R. (Henkel) Hepprich; and his son, Gary Hepprich

Charlie will be greatly missed by his daughter, Kathy Tallardy of Westerly; daughter-in-law, Carol Hepprich of Cornwall Bridge; his grandson, Schane and his wife, Melissa Tallardy, of Westerly; and granddaughter, Kristy and her husband, Peter Christina, of Stonington; and his eight great-grandsons, Zachary, Aaron, Brandon, Kyler, Noah, Dylan, Caden and Logan. Charlie will be dearly missed by his love, Barbara Goff of Bakersville.

Funeral sevices will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at United Church of Christ, 8 Bolton Hill Road, Cornwall. Rites of Christian Burial to follow at Calhoun Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to7 p.m. Friday, at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Route 202, Litchfield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: The Gary Hepprich Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Cornwall Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 180, West Cornwall, CT 06796 or to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7 Bolton Hill Road, Cornwall, CT 06753.

We are so very sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. He was a dear friend to Dot and Ralph for many years and we enjoyed him so much as well. Sorry we missed the service. We only realized he had passed on reading the Cornwall Chronicle. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
