Guy Begin Obituary
Guy was born on the fourth of July, 1931, always thinking the fireworks were for him. He grew up in Hartford, the eldest of seven children, and after serving honorably with the U.S. Marine Corps, met and married the love of his life, Barbara Erskine, on Aug. 10, 1957. They moved to Niantic where they raised their four children. Guy was self-employed until his retirement in 1999, as owner and president of O'Connor Trucking Co.
Guy enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a licensed pilot, a proud member of the New London Lodge of Elks No. 360, and an avid golfer who loved his friends at Cedar Ridge, as well as his Gorilla Golf buddies. He and Barbara enjoyed many wonderful travels but especially trips to the "Jersey Shore" and to Captiva Island in Florida.
He was a wonderful father, but if possible, an even better grandfather. "Pops/ Grandpa" was so proud of his 10 grandchildren and attended many of their events and activities. He could often be seen in the bleachers at East Lyme High School cheering on the various teams! Everyone in East Lyme loved Guy.
May Guy be remembered for his wonderful qualities, but most of all, his deep love of life, family, and friends. He will be truly missed.
Besides his wife, Guy is survived by his sons, David and his wife, Anne Begin, of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Paul and his wife, Gigi, of East Lyme; his daughters, Kathy Fontaine and her husband, Ken, of Niantic and Kristin Teague of Niantic. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Christopher Fontaine, Genevieve Fontaine and her fiancé, Eric Capodiece, Zachary and Colter Begin, Katie, Brad, and Austin Begin, Alex and Taylor Trudon, and Jameson Teague; and his sisters, Georgette Sheridan, Muriel Thurlow, Vivian Chervenak, Michelle Blust, and Louise Casey.
His parents, Eucharist and Terese Begin, and his brother, Luc Begin, predeceased him.
The family will greet friends and relatives at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, at St. Agnes Church, 22 Haigh Ave., Niantic, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. Internment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut, 255 Hempstead St., New London, CT 06320, or the Center for Hospice Care Southeast Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.

Today is a very difficult day, my dad died 10 years ago and my brother David died 2 years ago.
Both are missed so much, it still sometimes doesn´t even feel reel.
Losing a sibling is tough, but losing a brother who was also a special friend is much worse. I think about the both of you often, and will love and miss you forever.
