Henry E. "Buddy" Destremps Jr.

Lebanon - Henry E. "Buddy" Destremps Jr., 59, of Connecticut, formerly of Somerset, Mass., died Sunday, April 14, 2013. He was the husband of Cheryl (Dowd) Destremps, to whom he had been married for 33 years.

Born in Fall River, Mass., the son of Jacqueline A. (O'Rourke) Destremps of Somerset and the late Henri E. Destremps Sr., he was a graduate of Somerset High School, Class of 1971, and attended Central Connecticut State University. He was employed as an iron worker until his retirement in 2011. He began his career at Thames Valley Steel in Groton, later he worked at QSR Steel Corp., and owned and operated D & P Erection & Welding LLC.

An avid motorcycle enthusiast, he loved to ride his Harley-Davidson. He was a handyman who was able to help his family with many projects and built his own home.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother, are two sons, Jason K. Destremps Sr. and his girlfriend, Kim McCoy, of East Hartford, Michael E. Destremps and his girlfriend, Amanda C. Shetland, of Danielson; a daughter, Jessica C. Goulart and her husband, Jeremy H. Goulart; a brother, Kenneth W. Destremps and his wife, Robin, of Fall River, Mass.; two sisters, Debra L. Marek and her husband, Robert, of Berkley, Mass., and Lisa A. Rogers and her husband, John, of Dighton, Mass.; and two grandchildren, Alyssa A. and Jason K. Destremps Jr.

His funeral will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013, from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset, Mass., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Somerset. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
