Ida Allyn Obituary
Born in Mystic, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Anna (Gaynor) Ravenelle.
Ida was a former president of Lauren Jo Inc., and was co-owner of several large commercial fishing vessels. She was an avid boater who deeply loved the salt water air and truly enjoyed gardening. Ida was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, David Allyn and his wife, Donna, of Mystic; four grandchildren, Lauren, Irv, Paul, and Katie Allyn; and a great-grandson, James Michael.
She was predeceased by a son, James J. Allyn in 2002.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, Mystic. A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, Route 27, Mystic.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or to Center for Hospice Southeast Connecticut (www.hospicesect.org).

Walt-
I am in grief with the passing of my dear friend, Ida. I am having a hard time grasping the fact that she and I won't be exchanging stories from house to house across Mistuxet Ave.

I am so very sad to hear that Ida passed away. I feel fortunate to have visited her last week. We enjoyed many common interests, mainly gardening.
I am thinking right now she is in heaven with Jimmy and several good friends, like Chappie.
I would like to ask who ever is reading this to take the time to visit Walter. He will need the love of his friends and family to help him through the coming weeks, months and I hope years.

Hello David and Walt (and family),
I was saddened to see that your Mom has passed. She was sweet, fun and most of all your MOM...Both your Mom and Dad were always gracious and fun, and I have fond memories of our times practicing at your house in Mystic and at our gigs...lots of laughs.
My sincere condolenses...I know you will forever miss your Mom...and your not alone on that. Please give my respects to your Dad...he's a great guy also.

I am saddened to hear of your Moms' passing. I have fond memories of our days rehearsing at your home and the gigs we used to play. Your Dad and Mom were always lovely and gracious to us always.
