Jean Wallace Obituary
Jean was born Dec. 4, 1956, in New London, the daughter of the late Frederick H. Wallace and Dorothy J. Wallace. She grew up in Waterford, graduated Waterford High School, and continued on to business school. Jean was employed for many years at Pfizer in Groton, as a procurement specialist and previously at Millstone Power Station.
"Jeanie", as many of her family and friends called her, was passionate about reading romance novels and baking. It wasn't uncommon to see her sitting on the front stoop in her pink pajamas and matching slippers in the early morning reading her favorite book or magazine. Jeanie was also well known for her delicious New York cheesecake that she shared with many over the years.
Jean was predeceased by her father, Frederick H. Wallace.
Besides her fiancé, Bruce Benvie, Jean is survived by her mother, Dorothy J. Wallace; brother, Robert Wallace; and sister, Susan L. Strong and spouse, William E. Strong III. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Matthew Foster, Samantha Strong, and Christopher Wallace.
Her family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. Interment will be at the discretion of her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research, www.jimmyv.org.
We would like to thank the Center for Hospice Care Southeast Connecticut, especially the nurses and aides for their loving care of Jean. Their kindness and unconditional support was greatly appreciated.

I am sorry to hear of Jean passing. She was a good woman, always willing to help someone. She had an infectious laugh and was lots of fun. I will miss her. I worked with Jean at Millstone. I wish her peace and I am praying for all of the family. God Bless. She will be missed by many.

I was so sorry to hear of Jeannie's passing - shocked too. I will always remember her smile. We worked together at Millstone and then Pfizer and she was always pleasant to work with. My prayers are with her family and friends.

I could always hear Jean's voice over the cubicle wall at Howard Street. She made me laugh with her stories and always was prepared in case anyone had a headache. Jean kept a drawer filled with Advil which was frequented by many. God Bless you Jeanie! Will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Jean at Millstone for several years. We would chat frequently on breaks. Although we weren't close friends, we spoke quite often and I liked her. I remember her being sweet, but a tad bit sassy at times as well. I'm so sorry for your loss.
