Jonathan Aledia Obituary
Jon was born in New London, on Aug. 29, 1968, to Eduardo and Judith (Watrous) Aledia. After graduating from Waterford High School in 1986 Jon became a specialized welder. He was employed with Park Roway and later Seconn Fabrication before moving to Florida in 2009.
Well known in this area as an exceptional drummer, Jon performed for over 25 years in many local bands such as Groove Approved, The Untouchables, Think Big, and Five after Five. Jon was certainly a crowd pleaser with his engaging performances and fun-loving personality. Jon most often performed with his brother, Eddie, by his side. Musicians since they were young, they shared a very special bond. Jon's passion and enthusiasm for music was infectious and he entertained many with his undeniable talent.
Jon's greatest joy was his precious daughter, Mackenzie. He was a doting father who shared his love of family, music, and the Yankees with her. Jon's favorite moments were spent with Mackenzie soaking up the sun at the beach. He touched the lives of all who met him. His kind heart, sense of humor, and ability to make everyone smile made him a cherished friend to many. Jon will be truly missed and forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
Jon is survived by his daughter, Mackenzie Aledia; and his parents, Ed and Judy Aledia of Winter Haven, Fla.; his brother, Eddie Aledia and his wife, Mary, and their children, Jalen, Eddie, and Christian of Quaker Hill; his uncle, Richard Watrous of East Lyme; and his cousin, Rick Watrous of Colchester.
A private service was held in Winter Haven, Fla.
Jon's family asks that donations in his memory be directed to a fund established for his daughter's education: Mackenzie Jonelle Aledia, c/o Liberty Bank, 61 Bank Street, New London, CT 06320.

Very saddened to hear of the passing of Jon. I will always remember Jon and Eddie from high school and the two of them jamming away on the drums and guitar. Very talented musician. My condolences to his parents and brother. Rest in Peace and Play On For Eternity.

Please take solace and comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering and that there will be a grand reunion where there is pain, suffering, or goodbyes. It was with great sadness to hear of Jon's passing. Jon was a great person and his smile made you smile. (just had to be careful not to get his famous tooth hit when you smiled back at him).
