Joshua Woods Obituary

Memphis, Tenn. - Joshua Allen Woods, 25, of Memphis, stationed at Groton with the U.S. Navy, died on Saturday, March 2, 2013.

Josh was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School, where he excelled in football and wrestling. Josh enjoyed golf, fitness, cooking, fishing and took part in many SCI Hunters Against Hunger Hunts with his maternal grandfather and cousins.

Joshua is survived by his mother, Shari (Disalvo) Woods; father, Russell A. Woods, both of Memphis; paternal grandparents, J.E. and Hilda Woods of Memphis; maternal grandparents, Jim and Vicki Disalvo of Olive Branch, Miss.; sister, Ashley Blackwelder; brother-in-law, Ryan Reed; nephews, Cameron and Colby Reed of Memphis; cousins, Sam and Julie Disalvo, Natalia and Tom Johnson, Kristi Miller, Bill Moss III, Brent Moss, Victoria Moss, Nicholas Disalvo, Katie Disalvo, Jake Disalvo, Mia Disalvo, Nico Disalvo, Jamie Disalvo, Taylor Reynolds, Sarah, Lee, Belle and Bonnie Saphier, Don White and Christian Dion; aunts and uncles, Norma and Jim Disalvo, Victoria and Tim Disalvo, Darlene and John Owen, Craig Woods, Linda and Richard Dion; and many great-aunts and uncles.

His family will receive guests and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. March 10, 2013, and funeral services will be at 1 p.m. March 11, 2013, all at the Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 5599 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119. Burial with military honors will follow at 3 p.m., in the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery

The family requests donations be made to Christian Brothers High School Scholarship Fund and the U.S. Navy-Chief Petty Officer Association Fund.
