Lawrence Delaney Obituary
Born in Westerly, on Feb. 10, 1933, he was the son of the late Francis and Edna (Hartsell) Delaney.
Mr. Delaney was employed as a draftsman at Electric Boat in Groton for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Pawcatuck Volunteer Fire Department and served as the former captain of the department. He was a communicant of St. Michaels Church in Pawcatuck.
Besides his loving and devoted wife, he will be sadly missed by his children, William Delaney (Mary-Ellen) of Boston, Timothy Delaney of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., Janine Sylvia (Kevin) of Niantic, and Patricia Delaney of Pawcatuck. He was the loving grandfather of Matthew Kimberlin, Caitlin Kimberlin, Christian Sylvia, Julie Sylvia, and Courtney Delaney; and great-grandfather of Landon Bailey. He also leaves his brother, William Delaney of Pawcatuck, and his son-in-law, Keith Kimberlin of Westerly.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Kimberlin and his brother, John F. Delaney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 95 Main St., Stonington. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial will be in River Bend Cemetery, Westerly. The Delaney Family will greet relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The Delaney family wishes to thank Apple Rehab-Watch Hill for the love and care shown to them and their father during his illness.

I'm sorry to hear of Lonnie's passing. I worked with him at EB for several years and commuted with him into work. He was such a jolly person and always cracking jokes. A good way to start the day. Keep all the good memories near to your hearts.

TO THE DELANEY FAMILYS, WE ARE SO SORRY TO HAVE READ IN THE NEWS PAPERS ABOUT LONS PASSING. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN WITH LON WHEN HE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL WITH MY MOM VISITING WITH HIM AND CHATTING ABOUT MY BROTHER MIKES PASSING AND WHEN MIKE PLAYED BALL MANY YRS AGO LON HAD A WONDERFUL MEMORY OF MIKE OVER ALL THESE YRS. LON ALWAYS LOVED TALKING ABOUT MY MY BROTHER MIKE IM SO GLAD IT PUT A HUGE SMILE ON FACE AND GREAT MEMORYS OF MIKE IT BROUGHT ALOT OF JOY TO LON. I worked with Lon at E/B, not in the same department, but in the MDA. He was a great guy and had a bubbly personality. He will be missed by all,of his friends. My prayers are with the entire Delaney family.
