Marjorie Rebmann Obituary

East Lyme - Marjorie Ann Rebmann was reunited in heaven with her beloved family on July 25, 2013, after a long illness.

Marjorie was born on Aug. 9, 1933, and raised in New London, where she attended Jennings School and later graduated from Chapman Technical High School.

Though growing up during the Great Depression, Marjorie's childhood was filled with love and the values instilled in her by her parents, George and Madeline Alger. Together with her beloved sister, Madeline (Alger) Morris, the Alger family spent summers at their cottage overlooking East Lyme's Golden Spur. The family's cottage, "Boyhood Days", played an integral role in shaping not only Marjorie's life, but the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Throughout the turbulent times of the 1930s and 1940s, the Alger family enjoyed the quiet solitude of Golden Spur, reaping the bounty of fish from the Niantic River and bushels of blue crabs and eels from the Spur. The memories of Golden Spur will forever be etched into the hearts and minds of Marjorie's descendants.

Marjorie married her high school sweetheart, Francis Rebmann Jr. in February 1953. Marjorie and Francis raised their two children in New London and later moved to East Lyme where the cottage was converted to a year-round home.

Marjorie and Francis spent their retirement years traveling and took great pride in canning and freezing the bounty from their large garden. Marjorie excelled at cooking and entertaining. Her home was often overflowing with the company of friends and family where good food and love abounded.

Marjorie is survived by her children, George E. Rebmann of Avon, and Elizabeth A. (Rebmann) Korineck of East Lyme. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Rebmann of Birmingham, Ala., Joshua Rebmann of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., Jennifer Anderson of Taftville, and Joseph D. Korineck of East Hampton. Marjorie and Francis were blessed with two great-grandchildren, Noah Anderson and Morgan Riley of Taftville.

Marjorie's family wishes to acknowledge the dedication and service of Angel Care, LLC of Niantic and the Center for Hospice Care Southeast Connecticut for their support over the course of Marjorie's illness.

A ceremony honoring Marjorie and Francis will be private and held at a later time.

The Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home of East Lyme is assisting the family.
